A man's hand with a blue cloud hovering over his palm

Have you been meaning to learn the Microsoft tools but just never got around to it? Make this year different.

What's at the top of your list of Microsoft tools you've always wanted to learn? Everyone has a program they wish they were better at. Everyone also has a program they despise and can't seem to understand, no matter how hard they try. But it's important to rip that band-aid off now while you can; otherwise even the most mundane tasks at work expand into grueling, miserable experiences that take up your entire afternoon.

The good news is, we have a solution that will make your office life much, much easier - Practical Knowledge Series.

Why is this the year you need to get better at Microsoft Apps?

It's 2023 - ditch the mindset of being satisfied with not knowing. With the right skillset, your workload goes from breaking all the time and being absolutely abysmal to, dare we say, fun! In our experience as a Managed Services Provider (MSP), a general lack of Microsoft knowledge leads to a lot of worker frustration and weak transferable skills to other programs, like email clients and word processors.

The programs we hear the most often about are:

  • SharePoint - Everyone hates SharePoint, but that's because there's a learning curve for knowing what account you're logging in with and switching accounts.
  • Teams - Similar issues here. Users struggle with switching Teams tenancy, meaning switching from one company account to the other.
  • OneDrive - You'd be surprised how many people aren't familiar with OneDrive, its purpose, or how to make it work for them.

Overall, people tend to resist the hurdle that is learning new technology, but why?

Retraining your brain for technology is hard.

We get it. When you log on for the day, you just wanna get everything on your docket taken care of without having to research anything. In our experience, there are usually two types of people struggling when it comes to learning more about Microsoft apps:

  • Dinosaurs - They've been here for a while. "Dinosaurs" only use what they need to get the job done, and don't adventure out to learn all the new stuff. For example, we had someone call in to learn more about Excel - he didn't know there was a SUM function for counting values in a column! He was MANUALLY counting them.
  • Digital Natives - They know the basics, they know what tools they need, and they know, for the most part, how to make everything work for them. Digital Natives also know there's more to discover... but why would they bother if everything's sorta working?
